Another Deep Impact Stakes-Winner for Coolmore

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 14
The loss of Japanese super sire Deep Impact this year has been felt keenly by breeders right around the world with his progeny delivering Group I success in Australia last Saturday with the Matt Smith trained stallion Fierce Impact (Jpn) winning the Group I MRC Toorak Handicap, while in Ireland overnight Coolmore produced another promising two year old stakes-winner by the ill-fated champion sire.

The Aidan O'Brien trained filly Fancy Blue won her debut at Naas last month and then scored a head win in the Listed Staffordstown Stud Stakes over a mile prompting speculation of an Oaks campaign next year.

Coolmore are standing multiple G1 winning Deep Impact stallion Saxon Warrior in Australia this spring"She's a good filly and was one of the few one of ours that won first time out. She's a quality filly and Seamus [Heffernan] gave her a lovely ride," said - Aidan O'Brien.

Bred by Coolmore, Fancy Blue certainly has an Oaks pedigree as she is a half-sister to two stakes-winners in Casterton and Smugglers Cove from Sadler's Wells mare Chenchikova, who is a full sister to Epsom Derby winner and leading sire High Chaparral.

Coolmore have already tasted success with Deep Impact having achieved multiple Group I success with his brilliant son Saxon Warrior (Jpn) who is in Australia covering his first Southern Hemisphere mares this season at a fee of $24,750.
