Artie Schiller Filly Impresses on Debut

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday February 5

Artie Schiller (USA) is one of those underestimated sires that continually bobs up with a good horse and we may have seen one at Randwick on Wednesday when the Gooree Stud homebred two year old filly Kaakit Akit made a winning debut.

Artie Schiller is the sire of Kaakt AkitSent out a hot favourite on the strength of her lone previous trial win, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained filly led throughout and kicked strongly to the line to win the 1100 metre maiden by a length and a quarter with Nash Rawiller in the saddle.

“That was a very professional performance and there is a lot of upside and improvement to come from her,” said Adrian Bott.

“Black Type is the next step and it would be great to get that for her family.”

Kaakit Akit is a half-sister to stakes-winner Tactical Advantage and is the sixth winner from six to race from stakes-placed Encosta de Lago mare Above Perfection, a daughter of stakes-winner Actress, who is a sibling to the dam of Group I stars Desert War and Laser Hawk, who is by Artie Schiller.

Above Perfection has a yearling colt by Shalaa (IRE), a weanling filly by Smart Missile and was covered by Exceed and Excel last spring.

Artie Schiller has four entries for Inglis Classic and you can see them here.

Also worth consideration the first crop yearlings by Artie Schiller’s finest son Flying Artie, you can see them here.
