First Win for Begood Toya Mother Sibling

Tara Madgwick - Thursday April 16

One of the most popular Group I winners last spring was Begood Toya Mother and his three year-old half-brother Prince of Helena opened his account at Wangaratta on Thursday.

The Sidestep gelding is prepared by Craig Weeding, who was thrilled with his effort to hold out the hot favourite Old Head in a driving finish.

Third and fourth at his two previous starts last month, Prince of Helena is on the improve.

Connections no doubt hope he can follow in the footsteps of his famous sibling Begood Toya Mother, who has won over $600,000 in prizemoney with the Group I MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes his highlight win.

Prince of Helena is the sixth winner from eight foals to race from Lady of Helena, who was retired from stud duties in 2017.

Standing at Telemon Thoroughbreds in Queensland, Sidestep is the sire of Prince of Helena
