The Listed SAJC Dequetteville Stakes (1000m) at Morphettville on Saturday was supposed to mark the winning return of spring Group winner Karavas, but she came up short against Rosemont Stud’s homebred Starspangledbanner filly Lincolnshire, who led for home on debut and couldn’t be caught.

There were no Aussie trained horses competing at the Dubai World Cup meeting overnight, but Australian jockey Brenton Avdulla was in the winner’s circle for the Group I Al Quoz Sprint (1200m) aboard the Irish bred and Hong Kong trained Starspangledbanner gelding California Spangle (IRE).
