First Winner for Beneteau

Tara Madgwick - Sunday October 19
Former talented juvenile Beneteau stood for just two seasons before his premature death last year at Arrowfield Stud, the blue-blooded son Redoute's Choice posting his first winner at Bendigo on Saturday.

Prompt Return as a yearlingThe Danny O'Brien trained colt Prompt Return opened his career with a length win in the 900 metre two year-old maiden carrying the colours of Blue Sky Bloodstock.

Prompt Return was a $60,000 Magic Millions purchase for Blue Sky Bloodstock from the Newgate Farm draft after being initially passed in.

He is a half-brother to stakes-placed Diamond Glow from Exceed and Excel mare Prompt, a daughter of Group II placed Amnesia.

Prompt went back to Beneteau the next year so has a yearling filly by him to follow.

Winner of the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Prelude at two, Beneteau also finished third in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes and fifth in the Group I ATC Golden Slipper, but never raced beyond his two year old season.

A good looking individual, whose dam Slice of Paradise is a full sister to champion filly Alinghi, Beneteau had solid credentials and retired at a fee of $11,000. He leaves two crops totalling 135 foals.
