The top bets from Clinton Payne for Wednesday

Clinton Payne - Wednesday September 6

It’s a good midweek card at Warwick Farm this week and I’m keen to get my teeth into a few horses in the later races.

REALISE POTENTIAL (Warwick Farm Race 4 No 1)
He’s going well this horse and this resprents a good opportunity for him to break through. Resumed with a fast-finishing performance in a solid Saturday class 1000m event before coming from back last time in a steadily-run sprint that the leader and winner Nictock got all the favours. From the good gate on Wednesday he can race a pair closer and this time there looks some pressure up front which will suit him. He’ll be hard to hold out.

SCREAMARR (Warwick Farm Race 7 No 2)
He’s been something of a slow burner in his career to date but there were some good signs last prep and he’s trialled in good fashion leading into this campaign. Last prep he was ok first-up then broke through in maiden grade at Kembla. They sent him to Melbourne and he produced a real eye-catcher before returning home with a solid effort when less than a length from the winner in the South Pacific Classic. He’s been given two trials to ready him for this prep and I think the 1300m is perfect for him. Keen on his prospects on Wednesday.

ROYAL NAVY (Warwick Farm Race 8 No 3)
This appears a winnable race for Royal Navy. He’s a progressive horse that last preparation showed what he’s capable of when thumping a smart field that included The Pharoah and Echo Effect in Saturday grade. Resumed at this track two weeks ago and produced a respectable fourth but in his two previous campaigns he’s made significant improvement off his first-up runs and there’s no reason not to expect he won’t follow that trend here. Drawn to get the right run and trip suits.

ODDS $3.10
