One to Watch - Gosford

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 25

Gerald Ryan always maintained Rubick was one of the fastest horses he has trained and he no doubt has a lot of time for his talented son The Face, who made an eye-catching debut at Gosford on Saturday.

The Face was a hot favourite for the 1100m maiden on the strength of his two previous barrier trial wins and raced up to expectation when powering clear to win by three lengths.

The Face is certainly well named as he features an impressive blaze that makes him easy to spot and will make him popular with race fans.

Bred by Noorilim Park, The Face is the fifth winner from six foals to race from Crazy Quality, a winning daughter of stakes-winner Crazy Neaux from the family of Group II winner La Bella Dame and Group III winner Damselfly.

The Face is a progressive winner for Rubick, who will be Australia’s Champion Second Crop Sire by earnings for this season.

The brilliant son of Encosta de Lago is the sire of Group II winner Rubisaki and Everest hero Yes Yes Yes, who will stand alongside his sire at Coolmore this spring.

Rubick

Rubick stands at a fee of $33,000 and Yes Yes Yes at $38,500.
