New Stakes-Winner for Sir Prancealot

Tara Madgwick - Monday August 3

Cornerstone Stud shuttler Sir Prancealot (IRE) featured in Ireland overnight with a new stakes-winner after promising 2YO Miss Amulet took out the Listed Marwell Stakes (5f) at Naas.

Miss Amulet had to overcome a chequered run, but dashed to the line to win by three-quarters of a length, her second win from five starts.

“The idea behind coming here today was to try and get a bit of black-type but she travelled lovely. I just found myself in a pocket but I knew I'd plenty of horse that if a gap did appear I'd be able to manoeuvre out,” said winning rider Billy Lee.

“When the gap did appear she picked up well and won cosy at the line. She's a speedy filly who'd want better ground and I think there will be more to come. She might get six in time but I think she has more natural speed for five.”

Bought for a modest 7,500 pounds at the Tattersalls Ascot Yearling Sale, Miss Amulet is the eighth stakes-winner for Sir Prancealot and is the best of three winenrs from Oasis dream mare Shena’s Dream, who comes from the family of Group I winner Mill Native.

Sir Prancealot will have his first two year-old runners in Australia this season and stands at Cornerstone Stud at a fee of $9,900.
