Timely Winners for Vadamos

Media Release - Monday August 17

Vadamos made a very timely arrival back to Rich Hill on Friday evening after completing his quarantine in Melbourne. Heading to his paddock on Saturday morning the news came through that he had sired a winning two-year-old double in England during the night.

His daughter Ballintoy Harbour was super impressive winning by 2¼ lengths over 1009 metres at Pontefract at just her second start, while his Jamie Osbourne-trained son Balavad won by 3½ lengths over 1531 metres at Lingfield.

It capped off a great 48-hours for Vadamos as another of his daughter’s Messidor, trained in Ireland by Joseph O’Brien, created a big impression with her fast finishing debut second over 1400m at Leopardstown.

Arriving back in terrific order after a busy season at his Irish base of Tally-Ho Stud, Monsun’s Group One winning French miler Vadamos has now had five individual juvenile winners from his first Northern Hemisphere crop.

“We have had terrific feedback from trainers and breakers about his first New Zealand bred two-year-olds.

“It is exciting to see him get five first-crop winners in Europe by the end of August, and the speed some of them have shown is very encouraging.” said John Thompson.
Vadamos, who was New Zealand’s most popular first season sire at the 2020 Karaka yearling sales, will stand for an unchanged fee of $15,000+gst this season. Click to View
