From Luke Warm to Red Hot- Who Will it Be in 2020?

Tara Madgwick - Monday August 24

There can be a lot of change between what happens at the end of one season and the unfolding of the next and this young stallion has a filly that will be making quite an impression for him this season.

Darley’s Exosphere won the Group I Golden Rose in 2015 and retired to Darley the following spring at a fee of $27,500.

Thermosphere runs home hard to just miss behind Dame Giselle - image Steve Hart

The best performer from his first crop last season was classy filly Thermosphere, who won the Group II ATC Magic Night Stakes.

The James Cummings trained Godolphin homebred resumed from a spell last Saturday and impressed with her fast finishing long head second to Dame Giselle in the Group II ATC Silver Shadow Stakes.

A tough and consistent filly with two wins and two seconds from six starts, she looms as an ideal contender for the upcoming Darley Princess Series.

Interestingly, Exosphere’s book of 86 mares last year included Glows, the dam of Thermosphere, so she’d obviously been impressing the Godolphin team for some time.

Exosphere

A big powerful son of champion sire Lonhro, Exosphere stands at $16,500 this spring which is the lowest fee he has commanded, so if you have considered him in the past this might be the year to dive in at a value fee.
