Trial Winner for Extreme Choice

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 3

Newgate Farm’s dual Group I winner Extreme Choice sired a stylish trial winner in New Zealand on Thursday at Te Teko with an unnamed two year-old colt trained by Jamie Richards showing abundant natural pace.

He jumped smartly to lead and although green off the turn, he travelled strongly to the line to win his 640m heat by the best part of a length.

The colt was an $85,000 Karaka Book 1 purchase for David Ellis from the Ainsley Downs Stud draft and was a successful pinhook having been sourced from the Newgate draft at the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale for $65,000.

He is the first living foal from imported Forest Wildcat mare Unrevealed (USA), a four time winning full sister to Group III winner Brownie Points, the dam of Group winners Synchrony and Chocolate Kisses as well as stakes-winner Point System.

Extreme Choice had some fertility issues in his first season and as a result has just 48 two year-olds to run for him, but if they take after their sire it will be no surprise to see him make his mark despite the lack of numbers in  comparison to his peers.

A dual Group I winning son of Not a Single Doubt, Extreme Choice stands at a fee of $22,000 this spring.
