Sun Stud Queensland's Dynamic Duo

Media Release - Friday September 8

Champion sire, Bel Esprit and 'proven source' Statue of Liberty have gotten off to flying starts in 2017/18 with a host of winners between them.

Both standing at Sun Stud Queensland, Bel Esprit (pictured below) has 13 winners in August and the early days of September, while Statue of Liberty has also piled on the runs with 16 winners to his name.

Joe Heather"Bel Esprit and Statue of Liberty are both proven sires of high class performers and you need look no further than the immortal Black Caviar and Champion Male Sprinter, Hay List," Sun Stud Queensland Manager, Joe Heather reveals.

"Remarkably, they have produced the winners of over $110 million between, which makes for a lot of happy breeders and owners, while their collective strike rates of winners to runners is up there with the very best.

"Bel Esprit has pulled in over 100 individual winners in a season 7-times, including a record equalling 155 individual winners for the 2012/13 season, while his runners have notched up over 2000 career wins, marked by black typer, Tactical Advantage's victory at Doomben in May.

"What's more, he's been doing the job in the sale ring with seven of his yearlings selling for six figures in 2017 (up to $130,000) and boasts an excellent average of $58,664 per yearling over the last four seasons.

"There wouldn't be a better credentialed stallion in Queensland than Bel Esprit and he has never been more accessible to breeders."

Meanwhile, Statue of Liberty is no slouch in the auction ring either, reeling off impressive results such as $250,000, $180,000, $100,000, $100,000 at recent sales.

"With over 500 individual winners of $52 million plus and 47 stakes performers - including multiple Group One winner and champion sprinter, Hay List, Mic Mac, Liberty's Gem, Dan Baroness, Dawn Approach, Star Exhibit and co., Statue of Liberty is in the top 10 sires in the country, by winners, this season.

"Importantly, Statue of Liberty - a son of the legendary Storm Cat - has one of the best pedigrees in the Australian Stud Book with Group One producing sires A.P. Indy, Summer Squall and Lemon Drop Kid all featuring prominently in the first two dams.

"Statue of Liberty just oozes class … he is such a good mover and a real standout in the looks department."

Bel Esprit stands this season at a fee of $12,100, while Statue of Liberty - enjoying his first spring in Queensland's sunnier climes, stands at $7,700.
