$1.8 Million for Brother to Lankan Rupee

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 6
Investing $1,4 million on the dam of Australian Horse of the Year Lankan Rupee at the Magic Millions run Teeley Assets Dispersal in 2014 paid a quick dividend for Coolmore Australia when they sold the first foal they have bred from Estelle Collection for $1,8 million at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Wednesday.

A full brother to the five time Group I winner and $4million earner, being a colt by Redoute's Choice, the handsome bay proved a big hit in the sale ring with champion trainer Gai Waterhouse / Julian Blaxland / Nordic Racing securing him.

He doesn't have the trademark heart star on the forehead that his famous brother did, but there are unmistakable similarities and his star has a pattern of its own!

The sixth foal of Group II winning Stravinsky mare Estelle Collection, the colt comes from a renowned female family that is both brilliant and versatile producing champions such as Lonhro and last week's Australian Derby hero Tavago.

Still comparatively young at age 12, Estelle Collection has no weanling having missed in 2014, but is now in foal to Fastnet Rock.

She is pictured below at Coolmore in 2014 with her Redoute's Choice colt that has now become a sale ring star!

There seems to be renewed interest in colts at this sale by outstanding sire Redoute's Choice, who turns 20 this year and has proven to be a genuinely top class sire of sires.
