Symphony on song for reappearance

Darryl Sherer - Sunday September 10

Unbeaten colt Royal Symphony enjoyed his gallop between races at Moonee Valley on Saturday and puts his perfect record on the line next weekend at Flemington.

The Tony McEvoy-trained three-year-old galloped over 1200m in company with Box On Collins, the pair swinging home the last 600m hand timed in 34.74 seconds and jockey Dwayne Dunn was satisfied.

"We're still a long way away from his grand final but he got around here fine and looking forward to getting him back to the races next Saturday," Dunn said.

"I don't ride him trackwork so it's a bit harder for me to get an idea of if it's good work or bad work - I only see him on race day when he's at full throttle so it's hard to line him up."

Royal Symphony will resume in the Listed Exford Plate over 1400m at Flemington and Dunn said the son of Domesday did what he was expecting in the gallop.

"He's not one of those horses that just bowls up to them on the bridle and you're swinging past them," Dunn said.

"You think he's not doing a lot but when you give him a proper slap he finds for you.

"We'd like to keep him unbeaten if we can but he's still got plenty of improvement going into the race at Flemington."
