Sweet Idea Produces Winner for The Queen

Tara Madgwick - Sunday November 29

Australian Group I winner Sweet Idea looked an intriguing addition to The Queen’s broodmare band when she was exported to the UK in 2015 and on Friday produced her first winner for Her Majesty.

Two year-old Galileo filly Companionship was a good second on debut at Kempton on November 11 and was sent out a short priced favourite in a 1m novice event at Chelmsford on the all weather track.

Trained by William Haggas and ridden by Tom Marquand, Companionship finished hard from midfield to win by a head and will no doubt take benefit from the run when she returns at three.

A fast

and precocious daughter of champion sire Snitzel, Sweet Idea was trained by Gai Waterhouse and won over $2.4 million in prizemoney placing in both the Golden Slipper and Magic Millions 2YO Classic as a juvenile before winning the Group I ATC The Galaxy as a four year-old.

She was offered off the track at the 2015 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale where one of her part-owners Nick Vass bought out his partners when she made $1.6million.

Sweet Idea has produced her first winner for The Queen!

He later received an offer too good to refuse from bloodstock agent John Warren acting for The Queen and Sweet Idea was duly on her way to the UK shortly after.

Companionship is her first foal and there is a yearling colt to follow by her sire Galileo and a filly foal by Dubawi, so Sweet Idea is certainly being given every chance to succeed!
