Kestrel Thoroughbreds to Join Forces with Adrian Bott and Gai Waterhouse

Media Release - Monday December 7

Bruce Slade’s Kestrel Thoroughbreds is set to join forces with leading trainers Adrian Bott and Gai Waterhouse from 2021.

The partnership provides a further boost to an already strong portfolio for Slade, who also performs consulting roles with Newgate Farm and Edmonds Racing.

Waterhouse and Bott have enjoyed outstanding success in 2020, headed by Golden Slipper glory with Farnan – a record-breaking seventh Slipper victory for Hall of Fame inductee Waterhouse.

The stable also collected a quartet of Group One wins with quality mares Con Te Partiro and Shout The Bar.

Slade is coming full-circle, a decade after getting his Australian bloodstock career off to a flying start with five years as Waterhouse’s bloodstock manager.

He later served as General Manager and Director of Stallions and Sales at Newgate Farm, and he established Kestrel Thoroughbreds in 2019.

Now Slade is looking forward to rekindling his successful association with the Waterhouse/Bott team.

“We first worked together in 2010, and since then Adrian has become one of my best friends and Gai has been one of the most important mentors in my life,” he said.

“We had a lot to celebrate in our time together between 2010 and 2015, including two Golden Slippers, a Melbourne Cup, a Caulfield Cup, a Doncaster and a Magic Millions 2YO Classic and 3YO Guineas, with horses the ilk of Pierro, More Joyous, Fiorente and Sweet Idea.

“We are all excited to be back working together. We know each other very well. Our combination has been a recipe for success in the past, and we have a firm plan and path to follow to ensure we have more of those good times in 2021 and beyond.”
