Holler on target for Royal Ascot assignment

Godolphin sprinter Holler pleased his trainer John O'Shea with a piece of work in Newmarket on Thursday ahead of the Royal Ascot meeting next week.

Holler, who runs in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes on Saturday week, went six furlongs with a lead horse on the straight grass gallop on the Linekilns under his regular work rider Richie Cronin, cantering for the first two furlongs and then building strongly for the remainder of the workout.

"Holler seemed to handle that bit of work there and I am happy with him," O'Shea told Newmarket Racecourses. "He has been here a week and there were no issues with travelling. He is back to his race weight now."

O'Shea travelled Sea Siren to finish eighth in the 2013 renewal of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and said he felt the three-year-old son of Commands would find the extra furlong of the Golden Jubilee more to his liking than the King's Stand Stakes on Tuesday.

"He is a horse who likes to control a race and probably over five furlongs would not have that luxury. There is more chance to get into a rhythm over six furlongs.

"He was probably a bit unlucky at the (Moonee) Valley in the William Reid Stakes. The track was very sub-standard. He usually kicks on the bend but his wheels were spinning a bit and he couldn't get traction.

"Japonisme is the second-best sprinter in Australia and Holler has beaten him.

"He has never run in a Newmarket (Handicap) which is the best guide to Royal Ascot. But Japonisme ties Holler's form in - Japonisme has won a Coolmore and finished a close fifth in the Newmarket.

"This horse beat Japonisme at the Valley and would hold his own in a Newmarket. Royal Ascot is the number one meeting in the world and it is an honour to represent Australia and Sheikh Mohammed.

"Holler is a big, tough, galloping horse and I think he will be OK at Ascot and we look for a good draw. He has great gate speed.

"We got through the William Reid and started to prepare him for Ascot after that. James (McDonald) will be here on Sunday. He will gallop the horse on Tuesday and we will see what we think."
