Nicks that Click – An Obvious Choice Delivers

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 15

When full brothers Deep Field and Shooting to Win went to stud in 2015 pedigree analysts were quick to notice the potential for these two Danehill free sires from the famed Eight Carat female family.

An obvious perfect partner on paper at least were mares by Commands, who is of course by Danehill from the same Cotehele House branch of the Eight Carat family as Deep Field and Shooting to Win.

You get the double up of Cotehele House as well as the big positive of Danehill blood mixing with Northern Meteor and Elusive Quality, which is a proven recipe for success.

So has it worked?

Godolphin homebred Tailleur wins the G3 Triscay - image Steve Hart.

Well the answer is yes and we saw it highlighted last Saturday by Shooting to Win’s progessive mare Tailleur, who won the Group III ATC Triscay Stakes.

Shooting to Win has had six runners from mares by Commands and five are winners with Tailleur the first stakes-winner.

Deep Field has had six runners bred from Commands mares and three are winners headed by his Group II winner Cosmic Force, who is now at stud.
