First Winner for Kiss and Make Up

Tara Madgwick - Thursday February 18

Aquis Farm’s young More Than Ready (USA) stallion Kiss and Make Up joined the long list of first season sires to post a winner this season when General Phelps saluted on debut at Grafton on Thursday.

Trained at Ballina by Steven Phelps, General Phelps overpowered race favourite Buck Pharoah to win the 1006m juvenile event by half a length.

Bred and raced by his trainer, General Phelps is the fourth winner from four foals to race from General Nediym mare Rose General, who was also trained by steven Phelps and won seven races.

She has a yearling filly to follow also by Kiss and Make Up, who has a winner and two place-getters from just five starters.

Kiss and Make Up

A lightly raced Group II winner, Kiss and Make Up covered just 33 mares last spring at a fee of $8,800.
