Four In A Row for Time Thief's In Her Time

Mark Smith - Sunday February 19

Undefeated in all four starts this season, the Benjamin Smith-trained In Her Time proved that her 14/1 win in the Group II Breeders' Classic (1200m) two weeks ago at Randwick was no fluke with a dominant performance in Saturday's Group II Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill.

Ridden for the first time by Josh Parr, the 4yo daughter of Time Thief led every step of the way to defeat Euro Angel (Rip Van Winkle) by two and a quarter lengths with Daysee Doom (Domesday) a short-half-head back in third place. (photos Steve Hart).

The progressive mare advances her overall record to 5 wins and 1 second from 10 starts with earnings of $365,225.

"The way the race panned out, Josh was able to get to the front and we just told him to ride his own race, let her slip around the turn and see if they were strong enough to catch her," Smith said.

"Being the fittest horse in the race, that was the plan."

The natural progression would be to go for the Group I Coolmore Classic (1500m) run at Rosehill in three weeks' time however Smith is weighing up the options.

"We'll discuss that in the coming days. I think she is a better sprinter but the way she raced today might cause us to reassess," Smith said.

"But we'll get her home and go from there."

Bred by estate of the late David Cobcroft, In Her Time was consigned to the 2014 Inglis Classic Yearling sale by Kanangra Stud, where she failed to make her $40,000 reserve.

The rise of In Her Time It has proven to be a timely for Kanangra as the Dream Ahead (USA) half-sister to In Her Time at the recent Inglis Classic Yearling sale made $170,000 to the bid of Paul Perry, the second most expensive of the 23 yearlings by Dream Ahead (USA) sold to date this year.

In Her Time is the seventh foal of the Zeditave mare Hell It's Hot a half-sister to Group III winner Hot As Hell, Listed winner Flaming Hot. Hong Kong Stakes winner Craig's Dragon and the 5-time winner Harlem Heat the dam of Listed winner Harlem River.

In addition to the yearling Dream Ahead filly, Hell It's Hot has an unnamed 2yo colt by Al Maher, and a filly foal by Olympic Glory. She was covered by Artie Schiller (USA) last spring.
