First Winner for Awesome Rock

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 28

Fastnet Rock has a long list of sire sons that have enjoyed success at stud and has a new sire son with a winner on the board after Awesome Rock posted his first winner at Ascot on Saturday.

Winner of the Group I VRC Emirates Stakes, Awesome Rock went to stud in Western Australia and the Sue Olive trained filly Kaymay became his first winner when saluting on debut over 1000m.

She finished well from back in the field to score a short half head win.

A homebred for Alan and Sue Olive of Gold Front Racing and Breeding, who also bred and raced her sire, Kaymay is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Dark Queen, a Bletchley Park (IRE) juvenile winner from the family of Group winners Country Blazer and Beau Heed.

Awesome Rock stands at Gold Front Thoroughbreds and covered 35 mares last year at a fee of $6,500.
