Sacred Falls Filly All Hallows’ Eve Captures Carr Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday April 24

Given a peach of a ride by Jamie Kah, All Hallows’ Eve continued the run of success enjoyed by the John O’Shea stable with a dominant performance in the Group III Mostyn Copper JHB Carr Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.

The daughter of Sacred Falls came into the race with a close-up sixth behind Matchmaker in the Group III PJ Bell Stakes at Randwick. Given a ground-saving ride from an inside barrier by Kah, All Hallows’ Eve finished strongly to defeat the Power (GB) filly Elizabeel by a long-neck with the Iffraaj (GB) filly I Say Hello a head back in third.

“I thought it was an omen when we were in the Carr Stakes that it was only appropriate we engage Jamie, and it has turned out a nice thing,” O’Shea said.

“She’s had not a lot of luck with barriers. Today is the first time she drew a gate where she could get a nice run in the race. She has been crying out for 1400m.

“This is the race we set her for when she came back into work so it’s a nice little plan come together.

“It’s just testament to a wonderful group of people we have at home doing all the work. There’s a young French lass called Ali who rides her every day and she’s done a great job with her.”

“She is still in tremendous form, so we will just see how she is when she gets home and what’s available for her, but she’s got a very bright future.”

A homebred for Rosemont Stud and the Chittick family’s Waikato Stud, All Hallows’ Eve is a sister to the Group III Newcastle JC Tibbie Stakes winner All Saint’s Eve, and a half-sister to the Group 1 New Zealand One Thousand Guineas winner Hasahalo (Savabeel).

They are among the six winners from eight to race ut of the Encosta de Lago mare Halloween who is a half-sister to the dams of Savvy Nature and Addictive Nature out of the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes runner-up La Lagune (Danehill).

Halloween has a 2yo Savabeel colt named Lampkin Lane and a yearling colt by Svabeel. Halloween died in 2019.

All Hallows’ Eve credits the deceased stallion Sacred falls with his fourth stakes-winner.
