Weanlings by - and mares in foal to - some of the most in-demand stallions in the country highlight another outstanding renewal of the Great Southern Sale.

The two-day sale at Oaklands on June 13 and 14 has seen 534 lots catalogued in what is the final chance of the Australasian sales season to purchase a weanling or broodmare at a live auction.

In total, 409 weanlings will be offered across the 2 day auction, complimented by a further 125 Broodmares to be offered on Monday.

Weanlings by leading stallions such as Capitalist, Exceed And Excel, More Than Ready, Zoustar, Written Tycoon, Street Boss, So You Think, Pierro, Deep Field, Brazen Beau, Extreme Choice, Flying Artie, Frosted, Toronado, Lonhro, Dundeel, Ocean Park etc will be offered, as will those by an exciting crop of first season sires including Justify, Trapeze Artist, Grunt, Written By, Brave Smash, Harry Angel, National Defense, Sioux Nation, Mendelssohn, Lean Mean Machine, Showtime, Villermont and Boom Time.

There will then be a collection of proven producers and younger mares in foal to the likes of Capitalist, Street Boss, Dundeel, Exceedance, Frosted, Lonhro, Nicconi, The Autumn Sun, Toronado and Omaha Beach etc offered on Day 2 of the auction.

With recent graduates such as G1 winners Gytrash, Montefilia, Behemoth and On The Bubbles, the Great Southern Sale continues to assert itself as one of the leading breeding stock sales in the country for end users and pinhookers alike.

“You only need to look at that list of recent graduates to know that if you’re serious about finding a lucrative pinhook prospect, a quality galloper or a high-end producer, Great Southern is a sale that must be taken very seriously,’’ Inglis’ Victorian Bloodstock Manager James Price said.
