Debut 2YO Winner for Written Tycoon

Tara Madgwick - Sunday June 20

Poised to win his first Australian Champion Sire Title by earnings, Written Tycoon added another winner to the tally on Sunday with a debut victory for a blue-blooded two year-old filly at Ballarat.

Trained by Tony and Calvin McEvoy, Nabbed was a short priced favourite for the 1100m maiden against older horses and led for home under Linda Meech.

She had just enough left on the line to claim a half neck win and will take plenty of improvement from the run.

A $320,000 Karaka Book 1 purchase from the Little Avondale draft for Mitchell Bloodstock (FBAA) / G1 Goldmine, Nabbed is the first winner for Savabeel’s former star juvenile filly Pasadena Girl, who won the Group I ATC Champagne Stakes.

Pasadena Girl was sold by Woodside Park at the recent Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $360,000 to Yarradale Stud and looks to have been well bought as a Group I winner in foal to one of the best stallions in the country in Written Tycoon.

Savabeel's G1 winner Pasadena Girl was sold in foal to Written Tycoon at MM National Broodmare Sale for $360,000.

The weanling full sister to Nabbed was sold at the same sale fetching $150,000 and bought back by Woodside Park.

Standing at Yulong this spring at a fee of $165,000, Written Tycoon is the leading sire in the country by earnings with over 180 winners of $15.7 million highlighted by 12 stakes-winners.
