Rosemont Stud Stallion Parade Change of Format

Media Release - Monday August 9

Rosemont Stud have reshaped it’s forth-coming stallion parade to adapt to Victoria’s current Covid-19 situation -  Instead of this Sunday’s “open to all” stallion parade, the six-strong roster will parade for smaller groups through the day on Tuesday, August 17 and Thursday, August 19.

Shamus Award sired three G1 winners last season and is booked out.

“It was a difficult decision to make. Technically, I think we could have run as scheduled given regional restrictions lifting, but with half the population of the state still in lockdown, it didn’t feel like the right thing to do,” Stud principal Anthony Mithen said.

“We will now run small parades at 10am, 12pm & 2pm next Tuesday (17th) and Thursday (19 th) for those that can make it either from regional Vic or on a work permit.”

Mithen was particularly excited to show off the freshly arrived Starspangledbanner, who’s season in the northern hemisphere continues to rise and rise.

“It was going to be pretty awesome to show off the Banner following another G1 winner for him on the weekend up in the north. I suppose in the new format, breeders will be able to get up close and personal with him instead which is a good thing. He’s come down from Coolmore Ireland in fantastic shape.

“There is not a better value stallion in the world than Starspangledbanner at $15,000 service fee. I reckon Brooklyn Hustle can add to the G1 tally this spring too,” Mithen enthused.

The booked-out Shamus Award and Hanseatic were set to be highlights for Sunday’s parade as well as emerging son on I Am Invincible Strasbourg.

“We are eagerly awaiting Strasbourg’s first foals. If they come out half as handsome as him, everyone will be cheering and breeders will want a booking. He’s a fast 2yo type and achingly beautiful.”

Rounding out the roster for 2021 and on parade next week at the Gnarwarre farm will be son of Medaglia D’Oro Nostradamus and evergreen Starcraft.

Those looking to attend are encouraged to contact Rosemont Stud (03 5220 6500) for further information regarding the parades. Anthony Mithen
