$2.6m Sale Topper for Into Mischief and $1.4m Bolt D'Oro Colt Highlight Day 2 at Saratoga

Mark Smith - Wednesday August 11

A sale-topping $2,600,000 paid by MV Magnier for a colt by leading stallion Into Mischief, a $1,400,000 colt by Spendthrift Farm’s one season shuttler Bolt D’Oro (USA), and a $1million filly by Quality Road highlighted the final session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale on Tuesday.

Bred by Don Alberto and consigned by Gainesway Farm, the sale-topping colt is the second foal of the Flatter mare Paola Queen who won the Gr1 Test Stakes and was runner-up in the GrII Gulfstream Park Oaks.

The $1,400,000 colt from the first crop by Bolt D’Oro (USA) was assured a big fan base. He is a three-quarter-brother to Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra.

Bolt D'Oro stood in Victoria at Spendthrift in 2019 at a fee of $13,750 and has 57 yearlings  as a result that will be offered at Australian sales in 2022.

Bred by Heaven Trees Farm and consigned by Hill N Dale Sales Agency, the bay colt was knocked down to Larry Best of OXO Equine.

The honour of the top-priced filly of the sale went to the Quality Road half-sister to 2017 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming  (Bodemeister).

Consigned by Indian Creek for breeder Santa Rosa Partners, the filly is out of the wonderful In Excess mare Above Perfection. Besides the Kentucky Derby hero she is the dam of Grade 1 winner Hot Dixie Chick  (Dixie Union) and Grade II winner Positive Spirit  (Pioneerof the Nile).
