Plenty of interest in race one with the first appearance of 2020 Magic Millions sale-topper Profondo, who has been an eye-catcher at the barrier trials in recent weeks for the Richard Litt stable.

Profondo topped the 2020 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Bought for $1.9million form the Arrowfield draft, he’s by Japanese super sire Deep Impact from Group III winning Redoute’s Choice mare Honesty Prevails, who had plenty of speed, so 1400m might be a nice distance for this fellow to kick off in.

Hard to beat will be the Mark Newnham trained Frankel colt Money From the Sky, who charged to the line for an impressive debut second over 1250m two weeks ago at the same track.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase for Viribright Racing, Money From the Sky is a half-brother to French Group III winner Sky Kingdom from Starcraft’s New Zealand Group I winner We Can Say It Now, so he is certainly bred to be a classic prospect.

Interesting runner in race one at Sandown is the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young trained Flying Artie colt Riverplate, who has been whisked across from New Zealand following a debut second at Te Rapa in June.

Purchased for just $30,000 from Karaka Book 1 out of the Leanach Lodge draft, Riverplate is the first winner from metro winning Fastnet Rock mare Dynastic Lady, a full sister to Group I winner Age of Fire from the European family of champion miler Fly to the Stars.

Has depth and quality of pedigree to suggest bringing him to Australia may be a very smart move.
