Second Group Winner for Time Test in Two Days

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 2

If you bought a yearling this year by Little Avondale Stud’s new Dubawi shuttle stallion Time Test (GB) you’d be feeling some optimism after he sired his second Group winner in two days at Salisbury in the UK overnight.

On Wednesday, Rocchigiani won the Group III Renate und Albrecht Woeste Zukunftsrennen (1400m) at Baden Baden (read about it here) and then two year-old filly Romantic Time captured the Group III Dick Poole Stakes (6f).

Trained by William Stone and ridden by Hollie Doyle, Romantic Time had won two of her three previous starts and was a good eighth in a big field of 17 at her previous run in a Listed race won by another Time Test filly in Tardis.

She appreciated the step up to 6f for the first time and hit the line hard to win by a length taking her overall record to three wins and a placing from six starts.

“Romantic Time is by Time Test so should get further than this and has seen that out really well. She showed a bit of class, so you'd like to think she'd do well next year,” said Hollie Doyle.

Romantic Time is the  first winner for Percy’s Romance, a placed daughter of stakes-winner Top Romance.

She is the third stakes-winner among six winners from 20 starters for Time Test, who has also sired two more Group placed horses in The King’s Horses and Sunset Shiraz.

A multiple Group II winner by Dubawi bred by Juddmonte Farms, Time Test served a full book of 135 mares in 2020 and has once again garnered plenty of support from breeders this year with Little Avondale Stud announcing earlier this week that his book is once again full for the current breeding season.

Time Test (GB)

Time Test stands at the National Stud in the UK at a fee of £8,500 and has his first Australasian runners this season. He had yearlings sell this year for up to $220,000 with his top sellers listed below.
