Field and Barrier Draw for $7.5Million Golden Eagle

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 26

The field and barrier draw are out for the $7.5million Golden Eagle (1500m), a lucrative race this Saturday at Rosehill for four-year-olds to be run under set weights, with Northern Hemisphere three-year-olds receiving a 1kg weight advantage.

A field of 18 runners plus four emergencies has been declared for Australia’s third richest race with six Group 1 winners and 12 Group or Listed grade winners engaged including Epsoma Handicap winner Private Eye and Toorak Handicap winner I'm Thunderstruck.

Epsom Handicap winner Private Eye is one of six Group I winners in the Golden Eagle - image Steve Hart,

The Northern Hemisphere contenders are Frankel’s stakes-placed three-quarter brother-in-blood Maximal (GB); Group I Prix Jean Prat winner Laws Of Indices (IRE), a son of Oaklands Stud shuttler Power and Reve De Vol (IRE), a stakes-winning gelding by Siyouni.

Given the performance of Northern Hemisphere bred State of Rest (IRE) to win the Cox Plate last week there is sure to be plenty of interest in these three contenders.
