First Stakes win for Expensive I Am Invincible

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 2

The Listed VRC MSS Security Stakes (1200m) was the last race at Flemington on Cup Day and provided the second stakes-winner of this carnival for champion sire I am Invincible when five year-old gelding Quantico scored his first Black Type success.

The john O’Shea trained Quantico has always shown ability, but seems to be more focused on the task this preparation after being gelded.

With wins at his past two starts at Rosehill and Randwick in Benchmark 78 and 88 races, Quantico was in top form for this assignment and produced a career best performance to win by a length and a half.

“He’s an improving horse and John (O’Shea) has been patient with him and he’s now showing the benefit of that,” said Kerrin McEvoy.

A $1,050,000 Inglis Easter  purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for China Horse Club / John O'Shea Racing / Boomer Bloodstock (FBAA), Quantico runs for a syndicate that includes his co-breeders Yarraman Park and Jason Abrahams.

Quantico has six wins from 10 starts and prizemoney topping $285,000 and is the best of two winners from stakes-winning General Nediym mare Hoss Amor, who has a yearling filly by Hellbent and a colt foal by the same sire this spring.

Hoss Amor has now been covered by Bivouac.

Quantico is the 67th stakes-winner for Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible.
