Increased Australian Activity on Day 2 at Tattersalls

Mark Smith - Wednesday December 1

While Rosemont Stud did the heavy lifting for Australia on the opening day of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale with three lots purchased in association with David Redvers, day two provided a more even spread of buyers.

Craig Rounsefell's Boomer Bloodstock was active with three purchases.

Acting on behalf of Milburn Creek, Rounsefell purchased the unraced Medaglia d'Oro (USA) filly Brave Lass (USA) for 85,000gns. (lot 1625)

Consigned by Watership Down Stud, Brave Lass (USA) is a half-sister to stakes-placed  Amniarix from a daughter of the stakes-winner My Branch (Distant Relative), who placed in the Group 1 Cheveley park stakes and Group 1 Thousand Guineas.

Rounsefell was back in action purchasing the lightly raced stakes-winner Diablotine on behalf of Murray Thoroughbreds for 110,000gns. (Lot 1721)

A 2yo daughter of Kodi Bear, Diablotine has two wins from as many starts. After opening her career with a five-length win over 5-furlong at Chantilly in April, won the Listed Prix des Reves d'Or at Vichy.

Out of the Septieme Ciel mare Fridoline, Diablotine hails from the family of the former Baramul Stud stallion Magic Ring.

The third Boomer Bloodscok purchase was the Oasis Dream mare Tomorrow's Dream (FR). (lot1885)

Consigned by Appletree Stud, the stakes-placed three-time winner was purchased on behalf of Musk Creek Farm for 150,000gns.

She is a daughter of Midnight Thoughts (Henrythenavigator) a half-sister to Group 1 Irish St Leger winner Royal Diamond, Group II g Ribblesdale Stakes winner Princess Highway, and Group III Gladness Stakes winner Mad About You.

Rosemont Stud and David Redvers did not fire all their bullets on day one. They made two additional purchases.

From the Juddmonte Farms draft came the winning Siyouni filly Siyata (GB) for 120,000gns. (lot1855)

A winner over (7.5f) at Ffos Las in six starts this season for Roger Charlton, the 3yo filly is out of the stakes-winning Caponata (Selkirk), who was runner-up in the Group II Blandford Stakes.

Rosemont's second purchase was the 3yo Frankel filly Turandot, which came at the cost of 85,000gns. (lot 1874)

In seven starts this season, Turandot has won at Ayr and twice at Haydock, including her most recent start in September.

Turandot is a half-sister to Group 1 Falmouth Stakes and Group 1 Prix Rothschild winner Amazing Maria.

The Freedman brothers signed for two lots, the stakes-placed Soffika (lot 1701) and the stakes-placed Salsa Bella (lot1808).

The 4yo Zoffany mare Soffika (IRE) came at a cost of 150,000gns. She was runner-up in the Group III Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket in June.

A half-sister to stakes-placed Dubka (Dubawi), Soffika is out of the stakes-placed Sakhee mare Rosika, a half-sister to the stakes-winning dam of Notnowcato.

Stakes-placed in America Salsa Bella was a 200,000gns purchase.

The daughter of Siyouni comes with the added attraction of carrying a positive test to Frankel to southern hemisphere time.

John Foote Bloodstock and Kern/Lillingston Association signed the ticket for 62,000gns for Juddmonte Farms War Front (USA) filly Measure Up (lot 1851).

Placed three times in France this year, Measure Up is a half-sister to stakes-winner Variable (Sea The Star) out of the champion 2yo filly in France in 2008, Proportional (Beat Hollow winner of the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac.
