Flying Artie Filly Goes Three for Three

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 26

Flying Artie filly Asfoora was passed in shy of her $30,000 reserve when offered for sale by Noor Elaine Farm at Magic Millions Adelaide in 2020 and their decision to retain and race her looks like being a good one.

Trained by Henry Dywer, Asfoora won her first two starts at Colac and Stawell in December and early January and made a smooth transition to metropolitan company with an easy win at Caulfield on Australia Day.

Asfoora hit the line hard to win the 1100m Benchmark 70 event running away by more than a length and has now banked over $107,000 in prizemoney.

“She’s a lovely little progressive type,” said winning rider Mitch Aitken, who also partnered the filly at her previous win at Stawell.

“She won well at Stawell and I galloped her on Saturday and she had come on really well f rom that so I was pretty confident coming here today. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of her yet.”

Bred by Noor Elaine Farm, Asfoora is the first foal from Golden Child, a placed I Am Invincible mare from the family of Group III winner Big Chill and stakes-winners Hard Stride and Utah Saints.

Golden Child produced a colt by Ilovethiccity last spring and was then covered by Dirty Work.

Asfoora looks a bright prospect for Flying Artie, who covered his biggest ever book of 200 mares at Newgate Farm last sprung at a fee of $33,000.
