We Have A New Leader

Mark Smith - Sunday May 22

We have a new leader, and no, we are not talking about Anthony Albanese.

The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Lombardo became a surprise hero for I Am Invincible, who reclaimed the top spot in the race for champion sire.

Following Lombardo’s triumph in the $500,000 Group 1 The Furphy Goodwood at Morphettville and the return to form of the Chris Waller-trained filly Kir Royale at Flemington, I Am Invincible put $200,000 breathing space over So You Think.

Snitzel still leads the way for the number of individual stakes winners (16) from I Am Invincible (14).

There is still plenty to play for this week with the big Doomben Cup meeting transferred to Wednesday.
