Who Wants to Breed a 2YO Winner?

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 6

The ability to sire fast maturing early 2YO’s is a quality not all stallions possess, so the ones that can do it on a regular basis hold a unique place in the market and not all of them are super expensive.

Below is the leading 2YO sires by earnings with all those that have produced more than $1million in earnings.

Switching to Widden Stud this spring is Rebel Dane, who leads the list courtesy of his star daughter Fireburn, the Champion 2YO elect that has won not only the Group I ATC Golden Slipper, but also the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes.

Rebel Dane has had just two crops to race and had a 2YO stakes-winner in his first crop as well from small numbers, so there is every reason to think he’s going to be a good source of juveniles going forward now that he has a more commercial opportunity and is priced this spring at $27,500.

Champion sires Snitzel, Written Tycoon and I Am Invincible are high on the list as normal, while first season sire Russian Revolution has made his presence felt.
