Singapore Stakes Quinella for Star Turn

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 20

Vinery Stud’s promising young sire Star Turn already has a stakes-winner in Hong Kong in Cordyceps Six and now he also has one in Singapore with speedy three year-old Golden Monkey winning the Singapore Sprint Sng G3 (1200m) at Kranji on Saturday beating another Star Turn in Silent is Golden.

Trained by timothy Fitzsimmons, Golden Monkey chimed in with a furlong to run and powered clear to win by more than three lengths taking his overall record to two wins and five placings from nine starts.

Bred by Howard Blight of Bendaree Stud, Golden Monkey was a $54,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Byerley Stud draft and was passed in when re-offered at the Inglis Ready 2Race Sale.
