Sooboog's Boogie Dancer Wins by Daylight at Sandown

Mark Smith - Wednesday July 13

The Sooboog filly Boogie Dancer gave Jamie Kah a welcome back from holidays with a dominant performance over 1300m at Sandown-Hillside on Wednesday.

Trained by Peter Moody, the strapping chestnut filly look to be in trouble when trapped back on the fence. Once finding clear air,  Boogie Dancer found the line strongly to defeat the Exceed And Excel gelding Zasceed by a widening three and a quarter lengths with Headwater gelding Water Bomber a further half-head back in third.

It was the second consecutive win for Boogie Dancer who broke her maiden at Donald after debuting with a fifth at Sandown on June 11.

“She was very professional. She was not the best into stride, negotiated a bit of traffic, and was strong through the line, which is pleasing,” Moody said.

“There is a nice 1400m race at Caulfield on VOBIS Gold day in a couple of weeks. That looks a nice race for her the way she closed that out.

“It’s good for Rushton Park, Wylie Dalziel, and an enthusiastic group of owners.

“She was a nice, neat uncomplicated (yearling) filly that fitted a job for us and passed all our criteria. It’s great way for people to get involved with ownership.”

Dalziel Bloodstock / Peter Moody Racing purchased Boogie Dancer for $50,000 from the Rushton Park draft at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

A half-sister to Group III ATC Birthday Card Stakes winner Miss Exfactor (Your Song), Boogie Dancer is the sixth winner from as many foals out of the Quest For Fame mare Search For Fame, a three-quarter sister to dual Group II winner Impaler.

Search For Fame has not had a live foal since Boogie Dancer. She was covered by Your Song last spring.

Sooboog will stand the forthcoming season at Kitchwin Hills for a fee of $8,800.
