Karaka Graduate Wins HK Stakes

Media Release - Monday October 2

With a bold front-running performance, Karaka graduate(NZ) Beauty Generation (Road to Rock) overcame a wide draw for an emphatic victory in Sunday's HK$3 million Celebration Cup (1400m) at Sha Tin.

Beauty Generation - HKJCA proven Group 1 performer in Australia under his previous name of Montaigne, Beauty Generation faced an uphill task on Sunday from the extreme outside gate of 13 in the 13-horse field. But rider Derek Leung sent him straight to the lead and he never looked back, scoring by a length and a half.

It was Beauty Generation's third win from eight Hong Kong starts.

"That was just a case of a New Zealand horse loving any cut in the ground, which he got today," said trainer John Moore. "Originally the instructions were to ride him back, but when Mother Nature opened the heavens up and we got a bit of cushion into the track, I said to Derek, go ahead to the lead."

Beauty Generation has earned more than HK$7.7 million in prizemoney to go with the A$322,000 he picked up in seven Australian starts, which included the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas and Group 2 Hobartville Stakes.

Beauty Generation was bred by Nearco Stud and was offered by Highden Park at the 2014 Select Sale, where New South Wales' Hermes Syndications bought him for $60,000.
