Frankel Filly Let'sbefrankbaby Opens Account for South African Connection

Mark Smith - Thursday August 11

Drakenstein Stud's Frankel (GB) filly Let'sbefrankbaby opened her winning account at Sale on Thursday when leading at every call in a 1450m maiden.

Ridden by Lachlan King for Robbie Griffiths and Mathew de Kock, filly Let'sbefrankbaby stayed on strongly to defy the Tarzino filly Born Hustler by a neck with the Caravaggio filly Moyal Lass a further three and a quarter lengths back in third.

It was the second start for Let'sbefrankbaby, who debuted with a fast-finishing second to Freeways when on debut at Bendigo on July 14.

"A big thank you to (owners) Larry (Nestadt), Garry (Barber), and Mrs Rupert, they have put a lot of investment into the yard, and this is their first winner in Australia for us. So it is a milestone, and we are very, very happy," Mathew de Kock said.

"She is versatile and will only get better as the distances lengthen out. She is a nice filly with a bright future.

"We have her in when we can go forward to the spring. It depends on how she comes through to today, but she has a big pedigree, and we have earmarked a couple of races, so let's hope we can get there."

Let'sbefrankbaby was a $400,000 buy for Griffiths de Kock / Peter Ford Thoroughbreds (FBAA) / Haywood Bloodstock from the Bhima Stud draft at the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Let'sbefrankbaby a $400,000 Inglis Easter Yearling

Bred by Glentree Pastoral, the daughter of Frankel is the first foal of the stakes-winning Invincible Spirit mare Baby Pink (IRE).

A sister to stakes-winner Traisha, out of the Group III winning Galileo mare Dress Rehearsal, Baby Pink (IRE) was a 160,000gns purchase for Blandford Bloodstock at Tattersalls July in 2018.

It proved a wise investment as Baby Pink (IRE) made $700,000 to the bid of Badgers Bloodstock/Glentree Thoroughbreds when carrying the Frankel filly at the 2019 National Broodmare Sale.

Baby Pink has a yearling filly by Snitzel and was covered by Arrowfield's champion again last spring.
