Spring Potential Trial Watch

Tara Madgwick - Monday August 15

Warwick Farm barrier trials on Monday featured last year’s Golden Rose winner In The Congo turning up for his return with another trial win, while we liked the look of a So You think three year-old that holds an entry for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Lethal Thoughts had a promising first campaign in the autumn which produced a debut win at Sale and a good third in a strong open juvenile at Flemington followed by a sixth in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins.

Lethal Thoughts was having his second trial this prep and found the line well for Brenton Avdulla to surge up on the inside and win a strong heat.

Runner-up Cinderella Days is an Astern filly from Group I winner Ofcourseican that won her only start at Newcastle in May and is entered for the Thousand Guineas, while third and fourth place getters Chopin and Eponymous are also both winners that have been entered for the Caulfield Guineas.

Lethal Thoughts was a $160,000 Magic Millions purchase for The Racing League.

A $160,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Ashleigh Thoroughbreds draft for The Racing League, he runs for a big group of owners under the Vic Husslers banner so the progress of Lethal Thoughts will be followed by a lot of people!

Lethal Thoughts is the first foal from St Remy, a winning Star Witness mare from the family of Group winners I Am a Ripper and Murphy’s Blu Boy.

He is also closely related to Group winners Stampede, Thinkin’ Big and stakes-winner Just Thinkin’, who are all from this female family and sired by either High Chaparral (RE) or his champion son So You Think.

Joe Pride is waiting for the tracks to dry out for his quality Shalaa (IRE) colt Shalatin, who was kept up to the mark with another smart  trial, powering to the line under a hold for second.
