Invincible Caviar Returns a Winner

Mark Smith - Wednesday October 5

Returning to the track fifty-eight weeks after her maiden success at Sale, Black Caviar's daughter Invincible Caviar returned to the same track to claim a second victory.

Ridden by Luke Nolen for Peter Moody, Invincible Caviar travelled within herself in the lead. When challenged by the talented Ready For Victory mare Blistering, the 4yo daughter of I Am Invincible rallied, defeating Blistering by three-quarter of a length with Toronado mare Merlin's Charm a further length and a half back in third.

The $1,500,000 Written Tycoon x Karuta Queen mare Queen Of The Green, who created a big impression when winning on debut at Geelong, was never a factor and beat just one home.

Third behind Argentia and Viviane when making her career debut at Flemington in June last year, Invincible Caviar advances her record to two wins and a third from three starts with earnings of

Peter Moody said a series of niggling injuries had delayed Invincible Caviar's return.

"It's very pleasing to see her return like that after thirteen months," Moody said.

'It was a pretty good mares race, and I think the track was not to her liking.

"She did enough to win, so we can go forward. Fingers crossed, she pulls up sound and happy.

"She is not her mother; we know that and respect that.

"It’s good to get her back on track. She had minor knee surgery and she pulled a few muscles, which reminded me of her mother.

“The key to her is to lift the bar slowly. A mare with her pedigree, you would love to enhance it with black-type, but that is a long way down the track.

“I believe she is a stakes quality filly, and I think she will get there one day.”

I Am Caviar is one of three winners from five to race out of the undefeated 15-time Group 1 winner Black Caviar.

The daughter of Bel Esprit has a yearling filly by Written Tycoon and missed last spring when covered by Extreme Choice and I Am Invincible.
