Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar posted some good results at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale this week and his top seller is an interesting one as her dam is now in Australia and recently produced a filly by Frankel.
Chasemore Farm, who bred and sold Zoustar’s first Northern Hemisphere bred Group I winner Lezoo, also put the polish on Lot 442, a Zoustar filly from Dice Game that made 325,000 guineas to the bid of Karl and Kelly Burke.
She was the most expensive of 11 yearlings sold at the sale by Zoustar and was bred by Australian owner breeder Darren Thomas of Seymour Bloodstock.
The star filly is the third foal of Dice Game, an unraced Shamardal mare that was purchased by Australian bloodstock agent Mark Pilkington from the 2018 Tattersalls December Mares Sale for just 9,000 guineas and has proven a savvy investment.
Her first foal to race is speedy Group III placed Brazen Beau colt Boonie, whose immediate success last year as a two year-old prompted a mating with Frankel for Dice Game, who was then sent back to Australia.
Dice Game is based at Newhaven Park for Seymour Bloodstock and recently produced this lovely Frankel filly with no decision made as to what stallion she will visit next.
The
week might be about get even better for Seymour Bloodstock and Chasemore Farm, as they also share in the ownership of talented import Uncle Bryn (GB), who runs in the Group I MRC Toorak Handicap.
Trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, Uncle Bryn won three races in the UK before being sent to Australia last year and the progressive son of Sea the Stars has gradually worked into form. He comes into this race off a last start second to Caulfield Cup favourite Smokin’ Romans in the Group III MRC Naturalism Stakes and is a $16 chance with a good gate and no weight.
Uncle Byrn was bred by Chasemore Farm, who had another big result at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale this week selling his half-brother by Kingman that made 750,000 guineas when bought by Richard Knight Bloodstock.
The colt is also a full brother to Group III winner Boomer from Group II placed Wall of Sound with Uncle Bryn well placed to add more lustre to the pedigree as his potential is fulfilled.
