NZB Airfreight Proud Sponsor of Inaugural TiES Best Newcomer

Media Release - Sunday October 9

NZB Airfreight is proud to be at the forefront of a new sponsorship incentive known as the NZB Airfreight Best Newcomer Award, forming part of the NZTR Thoroughbreds in Equestrian Sports (TiES) Series.

Working in partnership with Equestrian Sports New Zealand and NZTR, NZB Airfreight will sponsor the inaugural award introduced for the 2022-23 season, recognising the success and versatility of thoroughbreds in equestrian sports.

NZB Airfreight will award a prize of $2,000 to the Best Newcomer in each TiES division.

The NZB Airfreight Best Newcomer title will be contested in conjunction with the TiES Series, with NZB’s equine freighting arm offering a prize of $2,000 to first-year winners of each discipline, totalling $8,000 in spoils.

The eligible disciplines within the Series include dressage, eventing, show jumping, and show hunter for thoroughbreds newly registered with ESNZ.

NZB Airfreight Manager Greg Northcott is pleased to see the new NZB Airfreight TiES Series incentive take flight, strengthening the company’s sponsorship portfolio amongst thoroughbred classes.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue our sponsorship of thoroughbreds, supporting them both on the track and off the track.”

“NZB Airfreight holds a strong stance on thoroughbred welfare and the importance it has in their careers as racehorses and beyond.

“It’s very pleasing to be able to partner with entities such as Equestrian Sports New Zealand and NZTR who also see the immense value found in life after racing for thoroughbred horses.

“We will now anticipate seeing the best newcomers perform to a high standard in their chosen discipline and look forward to congratulating the winners in due course,” he said.

To be eligible to compete in the TiES NZB Airfreight Best Newcomer Award, a contender’s thoroughbred must be registered with NZTR, as well as Equestrian Sports New Zealand, and be competing in their first season with ESNZ.

Information for each discipline and eligible events can be found on the TiES page of the ESNZ website here.
