New Racing Australia Chief Information Officer

Media Release - Friday October 21

Con Horaitis has been appointed to the newly created role of Chief Information Officer for Racing Australia.  Con was selected from a very strong field of candidates after an extensive and extremely competitive selection process.

The addition of a Chief Information Officer to the executive structure of Racing Australia follows a review by the Racing Australia Board. The Chief Information Officer is a strategic and operational position that will assume responsibility not only for the day-to-day operation of Racing Australia’s Infrastructure and Software but also the strategic direction of the technology investment. This role is key to the successful operations of Racing Australia’s bespoke technology stack that services the operations of the Racing industry across Australia, 24/7, 365 days a year.

Con joins Racing Australia from a global Real Estate organisation, where he served as Regional Technology Director, Australasia. He has previously served as Director of Technology and Property for a large national regulator and has held multiple other senior technology leadership appointments for several global financial services organisations, locally and abroad.

Paul Eriksson, CEO of Racing Australia said: “I am pleased that we have been able to secure Con as our new CIO. He is highly experienced and will be a critical part of the team to set and achieve the future direction of Racing Australia. I look forward to Con joining the team.”

Con will lead Racing Australia’s information technology, overseeing strategy, operations, infrastructure, projects, and applications.  He will be responsible for adding business value through the delivery of innovative technology solutions, to enable Racing Australia’s strategic vision.

“I am really excited to be joining Racing Australia and look forward to working with the Racing Industry,  Principal Racing Authorities, Race Clubs, Racing Australia team, together with all technology stakeholders, and for being tasked to lead the next iteration of Racing Australia’s technology journey,” Con said.

Con brings a wealth of experience to Racing Australia, having successfully managed and delivered large scale technology transformation programs, business process transformation, global technology strategies, and security and governance frameworks, for some of the world’s largest organisations, whilst also consistently successfully building and nurturing high performance teams.

Con will be based out of Racing Australia’s Melbourne Office and will commence on 28 October 2022.
