Flightline Crowned Horse Of The Year

Mark Smith - Friday January 27

To the surprise of no one, Flightline was crowned North America's 2022 Horse of the Year at the Eclipse Awards ceremony at The Breakers Palm Beach in South Florida.

Starting just three times in the season, Flightline kick-started the season with a 6-length romp in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park in June.

Three months later, he crushed five opponents by upwards of 19 lengths in the  Pacific Classic Stakes at Del Mar, then closed out his career when cruising to an 8-length victory in the Breeders' Cup Classic at Keeneland.

Unraced at two, the John Sadler-trained colt won all three of his starts at three, culminating in an eleven-and-a-half-length triumph in the Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita.

Flighline is preparing to cover his first book of mares at Lane's End Farm for an advertised stud fee of US$200,000.

Blue Light Enhances Breeding Success
For successful breeding outcomes, timing is everything. The horse’s natural reproductive period coincides with the light-filled days of summer. As seasonal breeders, the naturally lengthening days of spring suppress melatonin and in turn stimulate reproductive hormones that maximise fertility for both mares and stallions.
