Outlaws Revenge Captures the Wangoom

Having his second start for the stable after transferring from Ryan Balfour last month, Outlaws Revenge faced the breeze three deep the trip under Dean Yendall but was still a length and a quarter too good for the defending champion Frankie Pinot (Your Song). Sacred Palace (Sacred Falls) was a nose back in third.

At his first start for Daniel Bowman at Sandown on April 15, Outlaws Revenge finished second in the $250,000 VOBIS Gold Sprint.

With his third Listed stakes success, the 5yo son of Reward For Effort advances his record to eight wins, five seconds and one third from 26 starts with earnings of $605,250.

Bowman said winning the signature sprint at his home track was a huge thrill.

“I don’t train jumpers, so this and the Cup are target races. I’ve had shocking luck in this race,” Bowman said.

“I had the second favourite one year who had a temperature the night before and scratched Begoodtoyamother last year.

“I can’t thank the owners enough for giving me the opportunity.

“The horse came to be in unbelievable order. Ryan’s team have done a huge job, and I’ve been in the same position. It feels disgusting to lose a good horse like that.

“We set him for the race and a great ride by Dean.

“A big thanks to the girls who look after him. Melissa and Laura ride all his work, and Tanitha looks after him on the ground.

“He can be a bit of a pig, a bit arrogant, but he has a motor.

“I’d told everyone that if it was on a soft track, I was extremely confident. I don’t really talk them up too much.

“When it got heavy, it was just an unknown. He’d never seen anything like it. We just planned to put him up in the first three or four, keep the momentum, and get out to the best part of the track.

“He was the fittest horse in the yard and in great form. He just had to get through the ground.

“Dean Yendall, he’s won more races than anyone here, so you put him on.

“You can’t win races if you haven’t got the stock, so it is good to show everyone once again that if I’ve got the stock, I can do the job.”

Outlaws Revenge a $150,000 Adelaide Magic Millions yearling

Bred and part-owned by Willow Grove Stud’s Ralph Satchell, Outlaws Revenge was a $150,000 purchase for Ryan Balfour from the Willow Grove Stud draft at the 2019 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.

A half-brother to dual Listed stakes-winner Violet (Mint Lane), Outlaws Revenge is one of four winners from as many to race from the winning Testa Rossa mare Wings Of Alice.

Macdonald Gluyas Racing paid $150,000 for an I Am Immortal filly out of Wings Of Alice at the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Wings Of Alice was given a season off after foaling a Hanseatic filly last spring.
