Captivant - A Look At His First Book

Breednet - Thursday May 11

Given that he was a 2YO winner pre-Christmas, won the Group 1 Champagne to cap a tremendous juvenile season … then ran Anamoe to a half-length second in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas at three, it’s hardly surprising Captivant was a popular choice for breeders when he retired to Kia Ora Stallions last spring.

Captivant

The best performed son of Capitalist and standing at a fee of $27,500, Captivant would ultimately cover 127 mares – among the busiest first season sires in ’22 – and, as the Breednet charts show below, there was plenty of quality to match the quantity!

Indeed, Captivant covered no fewer than 12 stakes winning mares, along with the dams of 17 stakes performers.

“Breeders have identified an enticing opportunity in Captivant,” Kia Ora Stallions’ Belle Howard points out.

“Being the best son of Capitalist who is the best son of Written Tycoon - a sireline that we strongly believe is, and will continue to be incredibly influential, Captivant provides breeders with access to the exciting sireline while still being a Group 1 winning 2YO and Group 1 placed 3YO.

“Captivant is as physically impressive as his race record, and he covered a quality book of mares in his debut season.

"We have already seen a good deal of returning support for him and are eagerly awaiting his first foals.

"He has excellent credentials at exceptional value.”
