Top bets from Brad Waters for Wednesday

Brad Waters - Tuesday October 17

Super Cash did the job for me in the last at Caulfield on Saturday and that win could provide the impetus to continue to build into the spring on Wednesday.

The Athens Odeon will be heaving with folks wanting to watch the last race at Caulfield on Wednesday.

WOULDA THOUGHT SO (CAULFIELD – Race 3 No 6)

I’m trying to catch this bloke on the way up while he’s at a good price because I think he’s a talented galloper. Woulda Thought So gets to town for the first time after two runs in maiden grade, one for a solid second on the Pakenham Synthetic track before his terrific win at Ballarat last time out. He stepped up to 1400m for his second-up run and rattled home in the manner of a good horse to score. He has drawn barrier one on a tighter track but the rise to 1600m will suit the son of So You Think. I think this bloke could develop into a smart horse in the autumn.

KEEN ARRAY (CAULFIELD – Race 7 No 1)

Keen Array did a few things wrong when racing on the speed in the Gilgai Stakes but did a good job to fight off the placegetters to land the Flemington prize last time out and he can do so again here. He ran an even race two runs back in the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes after which Brave Smash (second) came out and ran a strong third in The Everest and Fast "N’ Rocking was third before winning at Caulfield last Saturday. His effort to race on the pace to win the Gilgai Stakes down the straight was good and he gets a comfortable run from barrier four on Wednesday. He’s up in weight but loves Caulfield and is worth following now he’s back to his best.

ODEON (CAULFIELD – Race 8 No 6)

I’m hoping it’s a case of barriers making all the difference for Odeon in the last at Caulfield on Saturday. The son of Zacinto didn’t do much first-up in a good stakes race, which produced Group I placegetters Mr Sneaky and Sintzson, before running an improved race when dropping back a level at Caulfield last time out. He drew off the track before working home OK to finish 2 ½ lengths from Cool Chap and Nozomi on October 1. He drops back to Benchmark 84 grade on Wednesday and should get a much softer run from barrier three. I’m expecting an improved performance from Odeon, who should race closer to the speed.
