Private Eye Secures Everest Slot

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 18

Joe Pride might have retired his perennial sprint king Eduardo, but will still have two runners in the $20million Everest with last Saturday’s Group II The Shorts winner Private Eye to join his stablemate Think About It in the world’s richest sprint.

A tough and versatile six year-old gelding by Al Maher, Private Eye shot to fame winning the Group I ATC Epsom Handicap in 2021, but has found even better form as a specialist sprinter with a lethal finishing burst finishing second in last year’s Everest to Giga Kick.

He was snapped up by slot-holders Max Whitby and Neil Werrett. They have twice finished second in The Everest with Vega Magic (2017) and Masked Crusader (2021).

Both Private Eye and Think About It were purchased as yearlings by Proven Thoroughbreds / Pride Racing.
