Second Season Shake Up

Stakes racing over the weekend so far has seen a reshuffle of the second season sires with Widden Stud’s Trapeze Artist now leading the way by earnings just ahead of Kooringal Stud’s Prized Icon.

It was a red letter Saturday for Prized Icon, who became the first of this cohort of sires to produce an Australian Group I winner when his quality filly Tropical Squall won the Group I ATC Flight Stakes (1600m), read about her here.

A dual Group I winner of the ATC Champagne Stakes at two and Victoria Derby at three, Prized Icon is by the late great More Than Ready (USA) and stands at Kooringal Stud at a fee of $8,800.

Trapeze Artist has a potential Group I winner in progressive colt Griff, who took out the Group II MVRC Stutt Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night, read about him here.
