"It has been an honour to have served in the position of managing director of Godolphin Australia and seeing through the vision of its founder, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, in Australia," Vin Cox said in a media statement.

"His role brought together my passions of thoroughbred breeding and racing and to combine them within a world-class operation like Godolphin has been an absolute privilege.

"It is with sadness that I leave what is an extraordinarily strong and dynamic team - Godolphin Australia is in great hands.

"Nevertheless, I am now looking forward to the challenge of developing a new operation from its early beginnings."

Cox left Magic Millions for Godolphin in 2018 after seven years running the Gold Coast based auction house.

"After six years as our managing director, we are very sorry to see Vin Cox leave us to take up this new challenge," Godolphin's director of corporate services, Ross Cole, said.

"Vin leaves us at an exciting time for the Australian operation, having overseen its impressive progression to become Australia's pre-eminent breeding and racing operation.

"He deserves enormous credit for his leadership and direction over this period and can take tremendous satisfaction from our results on the track and on our farms."

Cox finishes with Godolphin on December 1 with a replacement still to be announced.
